Chief of Academics, Former Dean, Faculty of Management, TU

The quest for betterment began in the history of human civilization from time immemorial. Education, if not formal, informal or any other forms (parental, gurukul to traditional philanthropic) had been found adopted in different phases of mankind development history. As a result, the thrust of education had been driven by different orientations. Sometimes, it was oriented by survival and material well-being and some other time by spiritual, developmental, innovative, creative, empowerment, enlightenment, humane and a combination of two or more of the above. Due to this diverse orientations in phases of humankind development, the need and importance too differed accordingly ranging from gearing knowledge, skills, application, techniques, attitude, innovation, creativity, economic prosperity, human enrichment, moral and ethical values, salvation and so on. This led to the emergence of a number of educational philosophies and theories. To quote one of the highly pronounced oriental most ancient religious texts of Hinduism Rig-Veda "Education is something which makes a man self-reliant and selfless." Similarly, Upanishads which are the main texts for Vedanta philosophy explain "Education is that whose end product is salvation." Great philosophers of both oriental and western cultures have had their own multidimensional manifestation of education. Their notion of educational perspectives had however seemed to have guided by the situational need of the time. That is why philosophers' develop different definitions emphasizing and focusing on facets emerged during time periods. Despite such variations, there has been no disharmony regarding the universal definition of education. They all agree upon a common point of understanding declaring that 'education is for mankind and by the mankind through better insights'. Education has never been controversial; the focus could have been, though. Understanding education as the one and only viable means for individual development, nation development and mankind development globally has been widely and strongly reckoned. Many forward looking countries of the world and the emphasis they have put on education have well illustrated this fact. With this realization, Texas Education Network (TEN) is ever acting meticulously and sincerely to prepare itself as a most vibrant, progressive and at the same time righteously pro-active academic institution different from others, to tackle the tremendous changes taking place in the dynamic world. The focus being always to prepare competent enough professional human resources with sensitiveness, responsiveness and contributing characteristics through imparting knowledge, skill, application and of course the positive attitude. We, at TEN, believe that in today's competitive, materialistic, unethical, value disoriented, self-centered and poorly governed society, the ethos put forth by TEN is very timely and pertinent which were seen never before. For better world tomorrow, we need the type of envisioned and focused people. To lure so as to prepare such human resources, TEN is fully devoted, exclusively committed towards this direction providing key facilities and facilitations through the following guided fundamental but functional guidelines, and of course, keeping the students at the center. With profound belief that academic testimonials alone is useless unless backed by adequate skills, our journey of academic pilgrimage always concerned deeply to strike a balance between knowledge and application or establishing bondage of theory and practice. – State-of-art knowledge domain – Skill development – Logistic support – Academics and practioners' involvement – Application focused – Conducive academic environment – Advanced technological support – Research based innovative and creative – Enhancing quality standard learning – International collaboration – Responsive, positive and collaborative attitude – Charm of real world learning – Inculcation of soft skills – Enabling challenge capability – Online academic contacts and learning – Project and team work involvement – Release of inherent qualities. Enduring efforts to enhance the quality of education with new modalities of additional addendum will remain part and parcel of our existence to serve the society and mankind. In the end, I welcome and urge all dedicated and meritorious students to be the member of the prestigious TEN families by ensuring your place in academic program of your choice and obtain what TEN is offering precious insights for you.
